NARTH's removal of its retraction (presumably under pressure from ultra-conservatives) is just the latest example of a troubling trend among ex-gay organizations. That trend may be summed up with the strategic motto:

Never let a good deed go unpunished.

NARTH has restored its reputation as an outfit that covers up the truth whenever the truth conflicts with strategy or ideology.

John, I see nothing wrong with observing patterns and inferring motivations that may be behind some of Exodus' actions. That's all part of understanding how they operate. But in this instance I believe Alan did the right thing, which means exactly that -- no more, no less.

No one is giving them a free pass for one good deed, but it seems to me that it was a good deed.

It appears the house of cards these people have built is starting to fall down. But I still think they see each other with rose-colored glasses. Had a gay organization made mention of it and brought it to NARTH's attention, I have no doubt in my mind they would have defended the comment and even expanded upon it.

Both Exodus and NARTH have a long way to go before anything they do that appears to have substance be deemed to have merit as well. Just because a dog stops growling doesn't mean he still isn't going to bite.

And yet it took Chambers eight months to give even a mild response to what Exodus helped stir up in Uganda. Obviously what happens in Africa is easily ignored and doesn't impact the bottom line for them like the deranged comments of someone like Glatze here in the States. Who knew that supposedly keeping to the Gospel entailed such political considerations?

Just sticking with the "credit where credit is due" theme...

Pfft, now why would he want to go mess up a NARTH conference with facts??? Jeepers you have some wild and crazy ideas at times David.

Personally... I hope Chambers starts it off with his definition of bullying...
