How many times will we now read from anti-gays how, oh, of course this is not tolerable, this is awful, but…
If you work against the rights of gays and lesbians to live the same life that anyone else is afforded, then YOU are the only thing wrong with being gay. Hate has been overcome before, it will be again.

There is no “but” to this situation, Dave. This is disgusting.
Most so-called Christian anti-gay groups like Focus on the Family and the Traditional Values Coalition have never unconditionally condemned such crimes in the past, and will say nothing about this crime, either. Their silence is deafening.
However, there will be one or two anti-gay leaders that will exploit this opportunity to “apologize” to the GLBT community, when in fact, their “apology” comes bundled with a list of flimsy “grievances” against our community presented as victimhood.
Both responses are unconscionable and deserve our scorn.
