Dr. Brown’s Final Statement

While the statement was pulled from the BRSM web site, Dr. Brown posted his response to the Board’s statement on ICN Ministries web site. His statement claimed that the Board’s statement was a “totally misleading picture of (him), (his) character, and (his) relationship to the Board and Pastor Kilpatrick.” He further states, “I would rather live with false accusations than bite and devour and divide.”

…Dr. Brown’s comments go far beyond the mere telling of his version of the events to include a battle cry to follow him to a new school. While espousing love for the Board and Pastor Kilpatrick, Dr. Brown also implies they have done harm to the students and their actions have been evil.

It must be hard for him not getting all the adoration he feels he deserves.

It’s worth asking what ‘Dr’ Brown got his doctorate in.

And from which institution – a respected one or a degree mill? It sounds a genuine insult to put this clown in the same league of respect as real experts who base their opinions on evidence and rigorous testing of their ideas.

I love your input everywhere I see it on the blogosphere. I’m sorry we’ve only met once, but I still think you’re awesome.

And, this is the difference between me and the Michael Browns and so forth.

I KNOW I don’t know enough or everything about what it’s like to be gay, transgendered or bi…
And I am also fortunate to have gentle and generous gay and transgender friends who are teaching me.

One has to be open to love to receive it. It’s only those interested in power and controlling you who tell you that such power and control is ‘love’.
Love is love.

Dr. Brown doesn’t know what he’s missing, and probably doesn’t care.
But he’ll never be smarter about homosexuality than a gay person.

So in a way, my gay friends have made me smarter (and taught me about strength and faith)…and I know in my heart too, I will NEVER be as afraid of anything as a Dr. Brown or any others like him show themselves to be.

He wasn’t at the Grand Valley State University event to promote his ideas about gender or sexuality, he was there to claim the university, and in general, liberals are intolerant because all views were presented.

He wouldn’t listen to the fact that when a guest history professor is invited to talk, its taken for granted not all sides of the event the professor is talking about are presented. Nor did GVSU ever advertise the event as all inclusive, it was presenting as a balancing dialogue in the community in response to Love Won Out’s message that you can (and implied SHOULD change).

The problem with Dr. Brown’s stance is is that most people, even LGBT people, don’t care what a private organization does, save that, the private organizations that promote the idea that LGBT people can change are also some of the most politically active groups fighting against the civic equal protections guaranteed by the constitution.

If the dialogue is truely a moral/philosophical/theological debate on homosexuality, by all means, anyone can come I believe, the problem is, conservatives are also political with their religious ideals, which again is actually fine in this democracy of ours, but its also a republic, and therefore even minorities are afforded equal protection. So kindly sit down and shut up conservative christians …but I say that with a voice of love and concern.

I think you have an interesting idea there regarding the purpose of “bridge-building” attempts by right-wingers who have consistently acted more as bridge-burners in the past. It makes sense. They can’t seriously think that we would actually warm to them and want any of what they have to sell. If they do, they have a horrible idea of how human nature works.

He tries to make this look worse than it is. Look at the wording. It doesn’t say that 67% of the population thinks that pedophilia should be illegal, it says that 67% of the population thinks that PROMOTING pedophilia should be illegal. This is literally the difference between child rape and freedom of speech.

Michael Brown: My question though for you friends is a constructive important one. Are you willing to sit down with a transgender person—a man who dresses as a woman—and really understand what makes them tick?

I am more than willing to sit down and bear with the ignorance of Michael Brown and educate him on what is transgender, and ask him why women are allowed to dress as men (pants?!). He would probably defend his opinion, but he is far away from transgender facts.
