Another Site Update

March 7th, 2007

That’s right, another face lift. The previous design, while minimalist on the outside, was nearly impossible to customize on the inside. The author is either a genius or mad, I’m not sure which. This design is much easier to deal with and I took the opportunity to update the logo a bit as well. If you have any trouble with the new stuff, please post to this thread. I’m sorry if anyone is getting dizzy ;)

The website and logo look good, but the blogroll appears in both sidebars. But maybe you’ve seen that already…

I likede the previous one. But this one is very good too. Congratulations.

I liked the prior one also, it was ‘clean.’ This one might be ok, but the blog text is now all the way below the blogroll, etc – both on the main and on individual posts. Unless that is MS-IEv7 messing up?

I’m not sure I understand Lynn. We checked it in IE7. If you don’t mind taking a screen shot, you can send it to me at david@exgaywatch.com. Anyone else using IE7 (or other) and see something odd in the design?

I hated the other one, too clinical.
I love this one, much warmer and softer.
    Neato cool man!

MUCH better, IMO. I especially like that I can identify the author at the start of the post instead of skipping to the end.

Oh – but I still miss the ‘recent comments’ feature from the old, old format.

This is much better. I thought the last one, while cleaner, was also as boring as possible.

In the end a Big Thank You for doing it … with life comes change and that allows us to learn and I am sure there will be more change in the future. Keep up the sharing of information and the service provided our community. Thank you for your efforts.

Very nice! And now you can more easily see who the author is!

I agree with Rick – really miss the recent comments feature.

    A definite improvement.

  13. March 8th, 2007 at 09:45 | #13

That one is definitely coming back gordo, now that we are using a template that is sane. The plugin I want to use has a more customizable look and it’s got a bug. As soon as the author fixes it, we are good to go.

In the mean time, you can use the Comments RSS on the lower left column.

Much more appealing than the previous layout.

Great looking site! Very easy on the eyes. Did you see Porno Pete cite XGW today?

I really like this new look. As Pam’s House Blend said, it’s very easy on the eyes; especially compared to the last version!

Good! You have the author’s name in the title of each submission.

You have kept the tawdry stuff (shirtless boys, underwear ads…) off. Keep it “office friendly” but not boring. Tough to do without sponsors… right?

    Me likes!

I would like to see the recent comment bit added back, though.

Have you ever considered a tip jar for those who wish to contribute?

    Oh so true!

A little pixie dust and your wish is granted :)   Look up and to the left.

That has been the subject of some discussion in light of our current decision to go without ads.  We might try it for those who want to help us, but we won’t ever push that.  Thanks for thinking of us, though.

    Comments back! Woo-hoo!

    Now that’s customer service!

This design works very nicely on a small screen like the Motorola Q, which is where I often read this site. Some other site layouts (MyDD for instance) show up on 320-pixel-wide screens as long columns of one or two word lines.

…by the way, it’s “genius” rather than “genious”. I like the variation in design. I’m a minimalist myself so the previous version was sufficient for my purposes.

Thanks, even the spell checker caught that and I must have been so sleep deprived that I ignored it.

I use spell chequer. So, THAT might explain some of my erreurs.

It’s part of the software package that includes spell chequeer. It warns me if I use the word faaaabulous too often.
