PageOneQ has the response of Mike Jones, the escort who exposed mega-church pastor Ted Haggard’s same-sex philandering.
Jones responds to two claims made by Rev. Tim Ralph, a member of Haggard’s restoration team.
Ralph claimed, “He is completely heterosexual. It was the acting-out situations where things took place. It wasn’t a constant thing.”
In response to one of Haggard’s counselor’s claims that Haggard’s activities were not a “constant thing,” Jones explained that he could only speak to the time he spent with Haggard and that had an ongoing sexual relationship with the minister and that their time together “indicated a gay man to me.”
Ralph also claimed that Jones was Haggard’s sole male contact. “If we’re going to be proved wrong, somebody else is going to come forward, and that usually happens really quickly,” he said. “We’re into this thing over 90 days and it hasn’t happened.”
Jones also shared that he had heard from two other individuals that claimed they had encounters with Haggard. Those accusers, Jones asserted, have chosen to remain anonymous for fear of losing their jobs.
Poor guy…..He’s still gay. Remember he’s been dealing and hiding this to his admission for many years….I would hope he would be honest about it instead of continuing to deny his orientation…..He will forever have these desires because he is what he is.
Not gay, more likely bi.
Sadly, his environment tends to reinforce the “act defines you” view of sexuality instead of looking inside and being honest with yourself.
It is ashamed Ted embarrassed his family, church and his community by not being true to who he is. I went to his church a million years ago as a teen. However, understanding mental health and the reality of recovery, it is very un-likely that he has been restored straight after only 90-days. If that is the case, every smoker, over eater, and drug addict should be pounding down the door of that rehab facility! I wish they would stop treating his gay secret life like he was and addict. Being gay is a sexual preference, not an addiction.
There is more evidence to show, that a gay person forced to masquerade is more damaging than a gay person having the option to come out from the beginning.
And at the same time, what harm is there to straight people if a gay person DOES come out?
Every person a gay person knows or encounters over time would have to be told or find out, so it’s a constant restatement.
Yet, regardless of wanting this honesty, such honesty is discouraged and the truth disallowed.
I don’t see why straight people don’t see this as a win.
As a way to avoid and prevent problems.
There is much too much that burdens gay folks unfairly and straight people are in no place to require it.
Okay, so a gay person doesn’t ACT on their sexuality, or doesn’t stay with a same sex partner…and I demand to know…what great good does this do ANYBODY?
What’s the friggin’ point?
The straight folks in control, had gay folks where they wanted them once upon a time. The closeted gay folks, the ones quietly going into their good night without any fanfare or most straight people any the wiser.
It couldn’t go on, business as usual. And not solely because of the tenacity and bravery of gay folks.
But there HAS been a huge price paid, and not strictly by gay people.
So now that the gay voice is breaking through, as it should.
Ted Haggard has created a huge cash cow for these same peers eager to take it over.
He’s so outta there, like John Paulk before him.
They’d generated a lot of publicity for these orgs., gave themselves over to promoting their work.
It’s pathetic, really.
Ted Haggard will never be much of a contribution to the world of psychology either.
His needs are not his own, but those of the faith community he served.
Straight folks like this, like you just fine….in your place.
Making money for them, and keeping your true self buried.
He’s still buried, and had to appear to like it.
It’s possible that any one of Haggard’s children is also gay.
And he’ll work to break his own child as he was.
Reminds me very much of the way American slaves were broken to serve their masters.
Only Haggard seems to be serving his straight masters, instead of his godly one.
If he were a rare case…I don’t think I would care that much.
But there are millions of young gay folks getting primed for this same treatment.
And I absolutely hate everything about it.
